Over the summer, Law Magnet continued to set new standards for debate in Dallas ISD. Our students competed against some of the best debaters in the nation!
Qualifying to the 2015 National Speech & Debate Association National Tournament:
L'Aunjanee Carriere (Worlds debate)
Crayton Gerst & Vernon Johnson (Policy debate) - reached elimination rounds
Alex Baez & Michael Vera (Policy debate) - reached elimination rounds
L'Aunjanee was selected to represent our NSDA district by competing on a hybrid team in the inaugural Worlds Debate competition at NSDA nationals! L'Aunjanee competed on a 5 person team that consisted of debaters from Greenhill, Grapevine, and other schools in the DFW metroplex.
This marked the second year in a row that Crayton, Vernon, Alex, and Michael qualified to NSDA Nationals! In doing so, they became the first debaters in the history of Dallas ISD to qualify to nationals in consecutive years!
Both policy debate teams (Crayton/Vernon and Alex/Michael) won enough preliminary debates to advance to elimination rounds. This marks the first time that any debaters from Dallas ISD have advanced past prelims at the prestigious NSDA nationals!
